Royal Johnson
It was 1986 when Royal Johnson of East Helena, Montana, entered Army Basic Training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He was 2,258 miles from home. Trained as a diesel mechanic, he served on a signal unit and later traveled to Central America to build a hospital there. That was almost 30 years ago.
Today, Royal’s back in Helena and has spent the last 13 years helping Murdoch’s customers find power equipment, animal health vaccines, feed, welding supplies, plumbing parts… you name it.
The first thing you’ll notice about him is his beard. The second thing you’ll notice (since the rest of his face is hidden) are his eyes. They’re honest, and they smile. The third thing you’ll notice about Royal is the spirit of service that lives in his heart.
Veterans Day
With Veterans Day approaching, we asked Royal to tell us about his experience serving our country and how he applies his skills and knowledge today at the Murdoch’s store in Helena.
We filmed it to share with you as a way to thank all men and women who serve in the military, past and present. There’s only one Royal. But there are thousands upon thousands of veterans and current service men and women who embody the spirit of service.
From all of us at Murdoch’s: thank you for your sacrifices, your generosity, and your caring hearts. We’re thanking, remembering, and honoring you this Veterans Day!
