Save the Date: Rodeo All-Star Weekend 2016!
Next year’s event dates are in the books. Save April 15-16, 2016, to attend this star-studded event.
Since its inaugural year in 2013, Murdoch’s has been a proud sponsor of Rodeo All-Star Weekend. Celebrating the sport and athletes of rodeo with an all-star festival feel, this event brings together rodeo champions from across various associations as they compete to determine one true champion.
In 2015, the weekend’s activities included three all-star rodeo performances, the first-ever Rodeo All-Star Run, the always-popular Lunch with Champions, Murdoch’s Mutton Bustin’, the Murdoch’s Fashion Showcase, and of course… the mechanical bull. New to the event this year was a concert appearance by top country husband and wife duo, Thompson Square.
In addition to its events, Rodeo All-Star Weekend is unique because its competitors are chosen via fan-cast ballots. Not only are these competitors chosen for their expertise in rodeo, but also because they are fan favorites. They are high-caliber cowboys and cowgirls with high-energy, very loyal fan bases.
And what a unique expertise these competitors share! It is a strange and fascinating urge to mount an animal trained to furiously refuse you a ride. But this is the heart of rodeo. Facing down the very real possibility of serious injury, these competitors perform at a world-class level, making it look like it’s all in a day’s work. Like any group of true champions, these cowboys and cowgirls inspire spectators.
Kitch Walker, Murdoch’s Director of Marketing, described the event’s appeal, “The tradition of rodeo challenges us all to work our hardest, be our best, fall down, get up, and do it all over again. The athletes that compete at Rodeo All-Star are fan favorites and top performers who really inspire our company.”
“My favorite part is the diversity of contestants,” said Dana Porter, Rodeo All-Star Senior Manager. “It’s the only place you can see world-champion contenders from across the various rodeo associations going head to head.”
Echoing Walker’s sentiments about the exemplary tenacity of these athletes, Dana recounted her favorite moment from this year’s Rodeo All-Star Weekend:
“Lindsay Kruse, a barrel-racing contestant, was thrown from her horse following her champion ride. Fans didn’t think she would make it back into the arena, but she surprised us all when she walked out with her daughter to accept her award! She’s a great example of how tough these athletes are!”
Get in on all the action on April 15-16th in 2016. We’ll see you in Denver!
