Stephanie Quayle is a Bozeman, Mont., native now making her way through the country music scene. In July 2016, Murdoch’s formed a partnership with Stephanie because she aligns so well with our company’s brand and values: authentic, hardworking and committed to excellence.
Her new single, Drinking with Dolly was released earlier this year with a much anticipated music video to follow. Stephanie may play major shows across the nation; however, she maintains her down-to-earth character and proudly talks about her western roots. Allow us to introduce you…
Hey Guys! This is Stephanie Quayle writing to you on my very first blog for Murdoch’s! I am so excited to share The Dirt (my story, my music and some of my favorite things) with you.
When I think of dirt I think of my childhood on our farm in Montana —getting my hands dirty, being completely unaware of the dirt and only thinking of getting the job done, whatever that job may have been.
It’s wild. I have a song I sing every show that references “dirt on my hands.” It brings me right back to working the farm. Reminds me of that perfect saying, “You can take the girl out of the country, but you’ll never take the country out of the girl.”
Growing up on a working bison farm with horses, goats, rabbits, cows, dogs, cats and chickens made it easy to welcome Murdoch’s into our family. I love going in and seeing the baby chicks and latest halters for my quarter horse named Magic. I also spend quite a lot of time in the sock aisle! I mean, you can have a whole lotta personality in your boots, right?!
I like to take a little piece of my roots with me wherever I go by wearing some of my style favorites. They’re effortless and I never leave home without my favorite Murdoch’s ball cap when I’m out on the road! In between traveling from show to show, there is nothing like coming home to ride my horse with my husband by my side. We split our time between our ranch in Montana, our grass-fed beef farm in North Carolina and our “music home” in Nashville, Tenn. With our schedules like they are, there is nothing better than a few hours on horseback, leaving our cell phones behind and taking in the endless big sky of Montana. There’s just something ’bout a horse.
From the stage, to the back of my horse, I look for versatility and multiple wears with every purchase I make. No kidding, I actually calculate how many different wears I get out of an item to make sure it’s worth the purchase. Especially with jeans… jeans are my jam. I would say when it comes to jeans and boots I am a bit of a connoisseur. It’s the tomboy in me.
My style is a big part of who I am, and I know what I like and feel comfortable in. Through the years, along with my jeans and boots, I have always been drawn to turquoise. Accessories that can be worn anytime, anywhere are the best ones. Not to mention I like the idea of having pieces that are handed down and well worn-in. I love the story that we all create with our clothes and how they are a part of those moments that you never forget. It’s like the first time you hear “that song”…or meet “the one”…we remember it all, down to what boots we had on.
When I think back to the little girl in that dusty old barn shoveling manure and listening to the silver AM radio playing country music, it is amazing to believe that today my song “Drinking With Dolly” is reaching so many ears across radio and social media. I am so proud to represent the beautiful Big Sky Country and share our western lifestyle with the rest of the world. Being true to myself has never steered me wrong. (I’ve heard that’s also known as the “Murdoch’s Way!”)
From barn to barn, stay tuned for a glimpse into my favorite styles, horsing around, performances, farm life and more! (I haven’t yet figured out how to play my guitar from the back of my horse, but where there is a will, there is a way.)
Love your FACES!
